Spectral recorded their first full-length album with computer equipment to reduce the production costs. Colossos (ex-bass) quit halfway through the production of this album to pursue his own interests.

Spectral played several shows without a bassist when Colossos left, but Agressor joined the band shortly following.

Spectral went into Gernhart Studios to record "Barbaric Assault", and received help from Dutch guitarist Martjo Brongers (Vortex) as a guest musician on the album.
