Biography

Avhath is a blackened hardcore and post-metal band from Jakarta, Indonesia, formed in 2013. Their music fuses black metal’s intensity with the urgency of hardcore punk and the weight of sludge and post-metal, creating a sound that is both cathartic and confrontational.

The band’s lyrical themes revolve around death, darkness, and anti-authoritarianism, often delivered through visceral screams and relentless instrumentation. Avhath is known for their politically charged stance and DIY ethos, positioning themselves as a force of resistance within Southeast Asia’s underground metal scene.

Their discography includes:

  • Pain and Suffering (EP, 2014)

  • The Avhath Rites (EP, 2016)

  • Nightfall (Single, 2020)

  • Ashes / Perish (Split with Haul, 2021)

  • Children of the Corn (Single, 2022)

  • Kafir (Single, 2023)

  • The Avhath Rites MMXXIII (EP, 2023)

Avhath’s sound is marked by tremolo-picked guitars, blast beats, breakdowns, and atmospheric interludes — a hybrid style that appeals to fans of both extreme metal and hardcore. Their live performances are intense and ritualistic, often accompanied by stark visuals and a confrontational presence.

The band remains active and influential, with a growing international following and a reputation for pushing sonic and ideological boundaries.
