Biography

Azoic is a black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in late 2011 by Benedikt and Ragnar. Known for their occult themes and raw sonic intensity, the band was active until 2017 and is currently listed as “on hold.”

Their music channels the cold, ritualistic spirit of Icelandic black metal, with a focus on atmosphere, dissonance, and esoteric symbolism. Azoic’s style likely blends traditional black metal aggression with ambient or experimental elements, reflecting the stark landscapes and mystical undercurrents of their homeland.

They were signed to Obscure Musick, and contributed to compilations such as:

  • “Monasterium” on Global Domination Vol. 1 (No Remorse Records, 2014)

  • Tracks “1” and “4” on Eistnaflug 2014: 10 ára Afmælisútgáfa DVD (2015)

Though their discography remains limited, Azoic’s presence in Iceland’s underground scene and their thematic alignment with occultism suggest a project steeped in ritual and sonic extremity. Their current status as “on hold” leaves open the possibility of future reawakening.
