AIN was a Slovak black metal project founded in Nitra in 2017, active for seven years before disbanding in 2024. Conceived as a channel for stark, chaotic, and abstract expressions of black metal, AIN operated with a minimalist public presence, focusing instead on cultivating a dense, hostile atmosphere rooted in death‑obsessed and metaphysical themes. Their sound drew from the rawer, more dissonant edges of the genre, marked by sharp riffing, cavernous vocals, and an oppressive sense of ritualistic darkness.

The band’s sole official release, the EP Strengthening of the Black Flame (2019), was issued through Iron, Blood and Death Corporation and became their defining statement. The EP was noted in underground circles for its intense, unrelenting approach—balancing traditional black metal ferocity with a more abstract, chaotic undercurrent. Its production maintained a raw edge while allowing the riffs and vocal layering to cut through with clarity, earning positive reception from listeners who favored uncompromising, spiritually violent black metal.

AIN remained a deliberately obscure entity throughout their existence, with limited promotional activity and a focus on cultivating atmosphere over visibility. Their dissolution in 2024 left Strengthening of the Black Flame as their only recorded legacy—a compact but potent document of their vision, still circulating among collectors and followers of the Slovak black metal underground.
