Aripiprazole is a Polish atmospheric black metal project active in the first half of the 2020s, operating anonymously and independently. The project’s name, borrowed from an antipsychotic medication, reflects its thematic focus on psychological fragmentation, emotional instability, and the erosion of identity. Its music is built on cold, immersive atmospheres, dissonant melodic lines, and a raw yet expressive vocal approach, blending depressive undertones with a more expansive, modern atmospheric black metal sensibility.
The project surfaced in 2023 with the singles “Human Self Lost” and “Desire”, both characterized by bleak melodic structures and a suffocating emotional tone. These early tracks introduced Aripiprazole’s signature style: hypnotic riffing, distant screams, and an emphasis on mood over technicality. The same year saw the release of the demo “Guided by Resentment”, a harsher and more introspective work exploring themes of bitterness, inner collapse, and psychological decay.
In 2024, the demo “Deaths and Resurrections” expanded the project’s atmospheric range, incorporating slower, more meditative passages alongside bursts of raw aggression. By 2025, Aripiprazole had begun collaborating within the underground, contributing to the split “Deficit of Emotions”, which further solidified its place in the Polish atmospheric black metal scene. Across its releases, the project maintains a consistent aesthetic of emotional desolation and internal conflict, delivered through a minimalist yet evocative sound.
