Children of the Void was a Lithuanian black/death metal project founded in Vilnius in 2019 before later relocating to Gouda, South Holland. The band was driven entirely by H.P., a prolific multi‑instrumentalist also known for his work in Bales of Flesh, Noitaliitto, and under his own name, Haroldas Pilkauskas. True to its title, Children of the Void embraced a bleak, war‑torn aesthetic—cold, violent, and steeped in existential ruin.

The project’s sound fused the harshness of black metal with the weight and density of death metal. Riffs were sharp and militaristic, drums relentless, and vocals delivered with a cavernous, war‑scarred intensity. Lyrically, the band explored themes of battlefield horror, human decay, and the spiritual emptiness left in the wake of violence. The atmosphere was oppressive and desolate, reflecting both the brutality of war and the internal void it creates.

Their first appearance came with the single “Fornica Rufescens” (2019), which also featured on the Sanguis, Ignis, Pica compilation by Magpie Pirates. The track introduced the project’s core identity: raw, aggressive, and steeped in a sense of ancient, blood‑soaked dread.

After several years of silence, Children of the Void resurfaced with the EP Manifestations of a Future Long Dead (2025), released through Stygian Mariner Records. The EP expanded the project’s sonic palette with more atmospheric layering, deeper death‑metal undertones, and a stronger narrative focus. The music conveyed a sense of apocalyptic inevitability—visions of civilizations collapsing, futures erased, and humanity reduced to ash. It stands as the project’s final and most fully realized work.

Children of the Void disbanded in 2025, leaving behind a compact but potent discography that captured a uniquely bleak corner of the Lithuanian and Dutch underground. Though short‑lived, the project remains notable for its uncompromising atmosphere and the singular creative vision of H.P.
