Cisza is a postâblack metal band from Warsaw, active since 2017 and formed from the ashes of Derisum, the earlier incarnation of the same four musicians. Their nameâ“Silence” in Polishâcaptures the project’s core aesthetic: spacious, melancholic, and introspective black metal shaped by atmosphere rather than aggression. The band’s sound blends postâmetal expansiveness with black metal tension, often leaning into long, meditative passages, layered guitars, and a sense of cosmic or existential drift. Cisza emerged when the Derisum lineupâPiotr ĆadyĆŒyĆski, Mateusz Stachelek, Artur PuĆșniak, and Szymon Ć»bikowskiâshifted toward a more atmospheric and emotionally textured direction. Their early work already hinted at postâblack tendencies, but under the new name they embraced a broader, more cinematic palette. The band’s Warsaw roots place them within a vibrant Polish black metal scene, yet their approach is notably more melodic and reflective than many of their peers. Rate Your Music
Their debut EP If It Is True What the Prophets Write (2017) introduced a sound built on sorrowful melodies and slowâburning tension, still carrying traces of their Derisum era. After several years of quiet development, the single The Ritual of Wind (2021) marked a return with a more polished, atmospheric tone. The fullâlength She Yearns for Other Worlds (2023) became their defining statementâan expansive, melancholic postâblack metal album praised for its emotional depth and immersive songwriting. Cisza has maintained a stable fourâmember formation since its inception:
All four previously played together in Derisum, giving the band a cohesive musical chemistry from the start. blackmetalcloud.blogspot.com
Cisza occupies a distinct niche in Poland’s postâblack metal landscape: atmospheric, melodic, and emotionally restrained, with a focus on mood and narrative rather than extremity. Their work appeals to listeners drawn to blackgaze, postâmetal, and the more introspective edges of modern black metal.
