Condescension formed in Narva in 2014 and quickly established themselves as one of Estonia’s most forceful modern black/death metal acts. Their sound is rooted in relentless aggression—tight, blasting drumming, sharp tremolo‑driven riffing, and a vocal approach that shifts between cavernous death growls and blackened screams. From the beginning, the band embraced themes of blasphemy, spiritual decay, and apocalyptic violence, channeling them through a cold, uncompromising sonic identity.
Their first releases in 2015—the single FFF and the EP Wrath of the Skies—introduced a band already confident in its direction. These early works were noted in the Baltic underground for their clarity of production and intensity, standing out from the rawer tendencies of many regional acts. The 2016 single Eden in Ashes expanded their profile, showcasing a darker, more atmospheric edge while retaining the band’s trademark brutality.
Condescension reached their creative peak with the 2019 full‑length Hellbound, a record that blended blackened ferocity with death metal precision. The album was praised in underground circles for its tight musicianship, cohesive songwriting, and the sheer force of its execution. A remixed version of the title track was released later that year, highlighting the band’s attention to detail and evolving production standards.
In October 2021, the band announced their split, citing internal and personal reasons. However, by early 2023, Condescension had returned to activity with their core lineup intact, signaling a renewed commitment to their craft. Their reformation was met with enthusiasm from fans who had regarded Hellbound as one of Estonia’s standout extreme metal releases of the late 2010s.
With members also active in projects such as Shkura, Collide, and Kapakmens, Condescension remains deeply connected to the Estonian and Baltic extreme metal network. Their return suggests further material is likely, continuing the band’s trajectory of disciplined aggression and blasphemous intensity.
