The band's hometown, Langhus (in the Ski municipality), was also the birthplace of Mayhem. The band used to rehearse in the old barn that was Mayhem's first rehearsal place.
The band's name comes from the Latin "Creperum" which denotes something dark.
A couple of month after the release of their first CD, the "Mara Affliction" EP, Jonatan Hafell Budalen announced his desire to leave the band's hometown of Ski while Jonatan Ekblad Haagaard said that he could no longer be active in the band. As of November 2012, it is unclear if Matias will revive the band with a new line-up or let it split.
