D. Magyla is a raw and abrasive black metal/noise project from Kaunas, driven entirely by the musician known as D. Magyla, a figure deeply embedded in the Lithuanian underground. The project operates in the harshest fringes of extreme music, merging primitive black metal with chaotic noise textures, tape‑saturated distortion, and an intentionally hostile sonic aesthetic. Rather than pursuing melody or traditional structure, D. Magyla focuses on atmosphere—one built from discomfort, decay, and emotional abrasion.

The earliest known material dates back to the mid‑2010s, later compiled on the 2023 release Demo (2016–2019). These recordings capture the project’s formative sound: lo‑fi guitars drenched in static, tortured vocals buried beneath layers of noise, and a suffocating ambience reminiscent of early Lithuanian raw black metal but pushed into even more experimental territory. The 2017 demo Left at Worst Moment further established this direction, presenting a bleak, unfiltered expression of isolation and psychological collapse.

In 2019, Pankai Nevidonys expanded the project’s sonic palette, incorporating harsher noise elements and a more chaotic, improvised feel. The material from this period reflects a shift toward a more confrontational style, blurring the line between black metal, harsh noise, and industrial decay. The 2023 compilation Self Genocide (Demo 2018–2019) gathered some of the project’s most abrasive recordings, offering a cohesive snapshot of its most destructive phase.

D. Magyla’s work is closely tied to the Lithuanian underground’s rawest circles, and the artist’s involvement in bands such as Neapykunta, Anapilin, and Violent Solution underscores a long‑standing commitment to extreme, uncompromising sound. The project remains active, unpredictable, and deliberately obscure, operating far from mainstream visibility and maintaining a fiercely DIY ethos.
