Deities of Flesh is an obscure and extremely underground raw black metal project from Sarajevo, known only through its sole 2013 demo Misanthropic Savior. Like many of the most elusive Bosnian acts of the early 2010s, the project operated in complete anonymity, leaving behind no interviews, statements or promotional material. Its music circulated almost exclusively through tape‑trading networks and the catalog of Depressive Illusions Records, a label known for releasing some of the rawest and most uncompromising black metal from Eastern Europe.
Misanthropic Savior presents a harsh, minimalistic and deliberately hostile sound. Built on distorted, repetitive riffs and a suffocating lo‑fi production, the demo embodies the misanthropic and solitary spirit implied by its title. The atmosphere is bleak and abrasive, relying on texture and raw emotion rather than structure or melody. The recording fits naturally within the broader Bosnian raw black metal tradition—ugly, unrefined and spiritually corrosive.
The project was entirely the work of Haemantroph, who handled all instruments and vocals. While little is known about his broader musical activity, the sound and presentation of Deities of Flesh suggest a solitary vision rooted in misanthropy, decay and the rejection of modern production standards. The anonymity surrounding the project has contributed to its cult aura, with the demo remaining a rare and sought‑after artifact among collectors of extreme underground black metal.
With no further releases or confirmed activity, Deities of Flesh exists as a single, stark document of Sarajevo’s raw black metal underground—an isolated expression of hatred and bleak introspection preserved in one short but potent recording.
