Demonium was a melodic black/death metal band from Trebinje, active in the early 2000s and known only through its 2003 demo Reincarnation. Emerging during a period when the Bosnian underground was still rebuilding after the turmoil of the 1990s, Demonium represented a rare example of a more melodic and atmospheric approach within a scene otherwise dominated by raw, abrasive black metal. Their sound blended harsh vocals and tremolo‑driven black metal riffing with melodic death metal structures, keyboards and a more expansive sense of atmosphere.
Reincarnation showcased the band’s stylistic direction: cold, melodic guitar lines supported by prominent keyboard arrangements, mid‑tempo drumming and a balance between aggression and melancholy. The demo’s production was typical of the era—raw but clear enough to highlight the melodic interplay between guitars and keyboards. While the release remained obscure, it circulated locally and among collectors of early Balkan extreme metal, gaining a small cult following due to its distinctive sound compared to the harsher Bosnian norm.
