Dola is a post‑black metal band formed in 2018, originally based in Poznań before later relocating to Toruń. Their music blends abrasive black metal textures with post‑metal atmosphere, noise‑rock tension, and an experimental edge that has made them one of the most distinctive and genre‑defying acts in the modern Polish underground. Their sound is marked by raw emotional intensity, unconventional structures, and a willingness to push beyond traditional black metal boundaries into areas of sludge, post‑hardcore, and avant‑garde heaviness.
The trio consists of Stempol (drums, vocals), Maras (guitars, bass, trumpet), and Grono (guitars, vocals). Together they create a dense, cathartic sonic landscape built on dissonant riffs, shifting rhythms, and a vocal approach that ranges from anguished screams to ritualistic chanting. The addition of trumpet in select passages adds an unexpected, almost cinematic layer to their sound, reinforcing the band’s experimental identity.
Dola’s self‑titled debut album Dola (2020) introduced their bleak, abrasive aesthetic—an emotionally charged work that quickly gained attention for its raw honesty and genre‑blurring approach. The follow‑up full‑length Czasy (2021) expanded their sonic palette with more dynamic songwriting, deeper atmospheres, and a stronger sense of narrative flow. Singles such as Kije (2021) and Drzewa (2022) further showcased their ability to merge aggression with introspective tension.
In 2024, the band released the single Drzwi & Tabernakulum, leading into their third full‑length Tabernakulum (2024), a record praised in underground circles for its emotional weight, experimental ambition, and the band’s continued evolution. The album deepened their exploration of post‑black metal by incorporating noise‑rock abrasiveness, atmospheric layering, and a sense of spiritual unease that runs through the entire work.
Dola also appeared on the Trip to Poland II compilation in 2025 with the track “Tam mnie nie ubijesz,” further solidifying their presence within the contemporary Polish heavy‑music landscape.
Signed to Piranha Music, Dola remain one of the most forward‑thinking and uncompromising post‑black metal bands in Poland—an act defined by emotional extremity, artistic risk‑taking, and a sound that refuses to be confined by genre conventions.
