Founded in October 2006 by Lynx and Panzerfaust, Dreadnought stands as one of Luxembourg’s most enduring and recognizable melodic black/thrash metal bands. Their sound fuses sharp, aggressive thrash riffing with the bleak atmospheres and emotional gravity of melodic black metal. Lyrically, the band gravitates toward existential decay, anti‑religious defiance, and the inevitability of death—delivered with a tone that is both confrontational and introspective.
Dreadnought’s early years culminated in the release of their debut full‑length Demon in 2012, a raw and forceful statement of intent. The 2014 single Vanitas and their contribution to the Bricherhaff Compilation: Metal Made in Luxembourg the same year helped solidify their presence in the national scene. After a period of relative quiet, the band returned with renewed strength on Path to the Unknown (2021), a more mature and atmospheric work that expanded their melodic and emotional range.
Their most recent release, the 2023 EP The Fire Within, shows the band at their most focused—tight songwriting, sharpened production, and a balance between aggression and melancholy that defines their modern identity.
Dreadnought’s lineup has evolved over the years, but the core of Lynx (guitars) and Panzerfaust (drums) has remained constant since the beginning. The addition of Pastor on vocals in 2019 and Venom on bass in 2024 marks the band’s current incarnation, while guitarist/bassist Inquisitor has become a central creative force in recent years.
