Ekasia is an industrial black metal and dark ambient project from Timișoara, founded by Fulmineos after the dissolution of his earlier project Mysterium. Originally created in 1996, Mysterium released two ambient demos—including Templum Tenebrarum (1997)—before evolving into Ekasia in 2000. This transition marked a shift from ritual ambient toward a harsher, mechanized fusion of black metal, industrial noise, and bleak atmospheric soundscapes inspired by abandoned factories, urban decay, and occult themes.

The early Ekasia material, beginning with the 2001 EP Umbre și reflexe, established the project’s signature aesthetic: distorted vocals, cold electronic programming, and a suffocating industrial ambience. Fulmineos’s approach blended raw black metal aggression with mechanical rhythms and dark ambient passages, creating a uniquely oppressive atmosphere within the Romanian underground.

The 2005 full‑length Midwinter Ricketiness expanded the project’s industrial dimension, incorporating harsher textures and more experimental structures. That same year, Ekasia released a split with Gruutaaghy, further embedding itself in the extreme industrial/black metal niche.

Between 2006 and 2008, Ekasia entered its most prolific period. Five Steps to Hell (2006) and Hybrid Scorn (2007) showcased a more refined balance between black metal riffing and electronic manipulation, while the compilation Ashes (2006) gathered rare and unreleased material from the project’s formative years. The Continuous Ellipse (2008) pushed deeper into dark ambient territory, emphasizing atmosphere over aggression.

The final known release, Underground Ghosts (2010), stands as one of Ekasia’s most atmospheric works—an exploration of spectral industrial ambience, decayed urban landscapes, and occult introspection. After this release, the project’s activity became uncertain, with no confirmed output or official disbandment.

Ekasia remains a cult name within Romania’s industrial black metal lineage, notable both for its experimental spirit and for its connection to Fulmineos, one of the most prolific figures in the Banatian Darkness circle.
