Endless Skies is an instrumental atmospheric black metal project founded in 2016 in Bucharest by multi‑instrumentalist Mihail Georgescu. Conceived as a solitary artistic outlet, the project blends melodic black metal, post‑black textures, and cinematic ambience, relying entirely on instrumental storytelling rather than vocals. Endless Skies focuses on expansive soundscapes, melancholic melodies, and a sense of vastness that evokes natural desolation, cosmic solitude, and introspective journeys.

The debut EP Wastelands (2016) introduced the project’s core aesthetic: layered guitars, atmospheric tremolo passages, and emotive melodic phrasing supported by subtle keyboard textures. The EP was followed the same year by the single Battle of Heavens, a more dynamic and dramatic composition that showcased Georgescu’s ability to merge aggression with soaring melodic themes.

In 2017, Sorrowful Utopia expanded the project’s emotional palette, leaning into melancholic harmonies and a more reflective tone. The single highlighted Endless Skies’ capacity to create narrative arcs without the use of vocals, relying instead on instrumental interplay and atmospheric layering.

After a brief hiatus, the project returned with Monuments of Haze (2019), a single that refined the project’s melodic sensibilities and introduced a denser, more immersive production style. The track is often regarded as one of Endless Skies’ most mature works, balancing black metal intensity with a strong sense of cinematic progression.

Endless Skies remains an active and independent project, appreciated within Romania’s atmospheric black metal niche for its emotive instrumental approach and its ability to convey narrative depth through purely musical means.
