Enwinted was a depressive black metal project from Skopje, widely regarded as the first active DSBM act in North Macedonia. Active around 2015–2017, the project was entirely driven by Morgul, a prolific figure in the Macedonian underground also known for his work in Ruststained, Sincrest, Hëikillä, and later Чума. Enwinted quickly gained attention within the regional scene for its emotionally raw, minimalistic approach and its ability to merge atmospheric melancholy with harsh, desolate black metal textures.
The project debuted in 2015 with the EP Withering Away…, a release that established its core aesthetic: fragile melodies buried beneath abrasive distortion, distant screams, and a pervasive sense of psychological collapse. That same year, Enwinted released its first full-length, Suneater, which became its most recognized work. The album blended depressive black metal with ambient passages, featuring tracks like The Rise of July, While the City Sleeps, and Where the Light Still Cries, the latter including a guest appearance by Nygard. The album circulated through YouTube, Bandcamp, and Macedonian metal communities, earning the project a small but dedicated following.
In 2016, Enwinted issued the compilation The Cold Decay, gathering earlier material, followed by the full-length Vein Deep Inside the Solution, which pushed the project into darker, more suffocating territory. The music became increasingly introspective, with themes of self-destruction, emotional numbness, and existential decay dominating the lyrical and sonic palette.
The final known releases arrived in 2017: the EP The Withering, which refined the project’s melodic sensibilities, and the single Wind, a short but evocative piece that hinted at a more atmospheric direction. After this period, Enwinted quietly dissolved, leaving behind a compact but influential discography that helped define the early depressive black metal identity of North Macedonia.
