Feylamia’s story is one of persistence, reinvention, and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Lower Silesian underground. Formed in 2013 in Warsaw, the band began as a postâmetal outfitâheavy, brooding, and steeped in slowâburn tension. Over time, however, their sound darkened and hardened, shifting toward a hybrid of sludge and black metal that embraced abrasion, dissonance, and emotional volatility. What remained constant was their instinct for weight: riffs that feel like collapsing concrete, vocals that tear rather than soar, and a rhythmic pulse that drags the listener into a claustrophobic, urban gloom.
The founding trioâguitarist Kozina, vocalist Mielnik, and bassist Chedaâbuilt the band’s early identity, joined by drummer Ĺukasz Kalbarczyk and guitarist/sampler Bartosz Kuszewski. This lineup produced GĹupcy umierajÄ (2017), a debut fullâlength that captured Fiasko’s formative sound: postâmetal structures, sludge density, and a bleak emotional core. The album’s atmosphere was unmistakably Polishâgritty, introspective, and shaped by the tension between restraint and eruption.
By 2020, the band had evolved significantly. The EP Mizantropolia marked a decisive shift toward blackened sludge: harsher textures, sharper edges, and a more confrontational vocal presence. The departure of early members and the arrival of new collaboratorsâbassist/vocalist Nawrot, guitarist Paftel, and later drummer PrzemysĹaw Hampelskiâpushed Fiasko into a more aggressive, experimental phase. Their sound became more jagged, more unpredictable, and more emotionally raw.
The modern incarnation of Fiasko solidified between 2024 and 2026, with guitarist MichuĹka joining in 2024 and drummer Grochulski (Kira, exâNomad) stepping in as of 2026. Live duties have been supported by Herr Feldgrau, whose presence connects Fiasko to the broader Warsaw heavy underground (Tankograd, Weedpecker, Dopelord). This expanded lineup brought new energy, technical precision, and a darker, more atmospheric edge.
Their 2024 fullâlength Amok ⢠ęoma represents the culmination of this evolution. The album is dense, abrasive, and emotionally volatileâsludge weight fused with black metal urgency, wrapped in a suffocating sense of psychological collapse. It’s a record that feels like a city at night: flickering lights, concrete pressure, and the constant hum of something threatening beneath the surface. Critics and underground listeners praised its intensity and its refusal to fit neatly into genre boundaries.
Fiasko’s contribution “CiaĹo obce” to Trip to Poland II (2025) further cemented their place among the country’s most compelling modern heavy actsâbands that blur lines, embrace discomfort, and channel the anxieties of contemporary life into sound.
Still independent, still restless, Fiasko stands as a testament to the power of evolution: a band that began in postâmetal introspection and grew into a blackened sludge force without ever losing the emotional weight that defines their identity.
