Haeiresis is one of Lithuania’s most distinctive and conceptually rich black metal projects—a long‑running, shape‑shifting entity founded in 2000 by S.B., whose vision has guided the band from raw experimental beginnings into a mature, atmospheric, and psychologically dense form of black metal. The project occupies a liminal space between dissonant black metal, dark ambient, and avant‑garde sound design, with a thematic focus on urban decay, abstract horror, and the metaphysics of darkness. Haeiresis is less a “band” in the traditional sense and more an evolving artistic framework for exploring dread, alienation, and the collapse of inner and outer worlds.

The early demo Hallowed but Hollow (2004) introduced the project’s foundational aesthetic: bleak, minimalistic black metal infused with eerie ambient textures. The 2008 split with Seagull Overseas expanded this palette, hinting at the project’s growing interest in atmosphere, dissonance, and conceptual depth.

Haeiresis reached a defining moment with the 2011 full‑length Transparent Vibrant Shadows, a work praised for its immersive soundscapes, layered guitar work, and its ability to evoke a sense of decaying urban vastness. The album blended harshness and ambience with precision, creating a sonic architecture that felt both oppressive and strangely luminous. It remains one of the most respected Lithuanian black metal releases of the 2010s.

The dual EPs Blightchimes and Immaterialis (both 2013) pushed further into experimental territory, exploring spectral textures, fractured rhythms, and abstract horror motifs. These releases solidified Haeiresis as a project unbound by genre constraints, willing to dissolve traditional structures in favor of mood, tension, and conceptual clarity.

Later works—Nekrokatarsis (split, 2017), The Bleaking (2018), and Emanations (2019)—showcase a more collaborative phase, with S.B. joined by a full lineup. The music became heavier, more dynamic, and more rhythmically complex, while retaining the project’s signature atmosphere of dread and urban desolation. These releases reflect a mature synthesis of black metal ferocity and ambient introspection.

Haeiresis stands as a cornerstone of Lithuania’s experimental black metal landscape: uncompromising, introspective, and architecturally precise. Its evolution mirrors the decay and transformation it thematically explores—each release a new corridor in a vast, shadow‑filled structure.
