Hellhorde were a raw and aggressive thrash/black metal project from Luxembourg, active from 1996 and driven by a solitary creative force. Their sound fused the primitive violence of early black metal with the speed and riff‑driven attack of old‑school thrash, resulting in a harsh, unpolished style rooted firmly in the underground ethos of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Lyrically, the project embraced themes of Satanic ritual, death, and horror, aligning itself with the darker, more extreme side of the European black metal tradition.

The band’s only known release, The Rites of Evil (2004), was a demo that encapsulated Hellhorde’s raw identity. The recording featured abrasive guitar work, frantic rhythms and a vocal delivery steeped in venom and occult hostility. Its lo‑fi production and chaotic energy reflected the DIY spirit of the Luxembourgish extreme metal scene at the time, where tape‑trading and small‑scale distribution were the primary means of circulation. The demo became a minor cult item among collectors of obscure black metal from the region.

Hellhorde was driven entirely by Occultus, who handled all instruments and vocals. His involvement in other underground acts—Donkelheet, Obscenus, Proelium—situated Hellhorde within a tight network of musicians shaping Luxembourg’s extreme metal identity during that era. The project’s brief existence and minimal output only reinforced its cult status, leaving behind a single, fiercely uncompromising document of raw blackened thrash.
