Húrin is one of the most distinctive newer voices in the Bosnian underground, a project that stands apart from the raw‑chaotic lineage of Banja Luka by embracing Tolkien‑inspired myth, epic atmosphere, and a sense of heroic melancholy. Named after Húrin Thalion, the tragic hero of The Silmarillion, the project draws heavily on First Age mythology—valor, doom, defiance, and the spiritual weight of war—while grounding its sound in a modern, melodic, atmospheric black metal framework.
Where many Bosnian projects lean toward raw extremity or occult hostility, HĂşrin channels a different emotional register:
The project’s earliest public material arrived in 2023, marking a sudden but confident emergence.
A sharp, evocative introduction—melodic black metal with a strong sense of forward motion and mythic tension.
A fascinating cross‑project work that hints at broader Slavic mythological interests. “Nav’” refers to the realm of the dead in Slavic cosmology, suggesting HĂşrin’s thematic scope extends beyond Tolkien into regional folklore.
The most complete early statement: atmospheric, melodic, and emotionally charged. It blends Tolkien’s tragic heroism with the bleakness of modern black metal, creating a sound that feels both ancient and immediate.
Behind the project is Húrin Thalion, a multi‑instrumentalist whose previous work in Uralt, Mraz, Monolit, and Mrlja shows a long‑standing engagement with atmospheric and melancholic metal. Húrin represents his most focused and thematically unified project to date.
In 2024, the project expanded into a live lineup, signaling a transition from solitary studio entity to a functioning band:
Ivan Manojlović – Bass
Also in: Klapan
Ivan Jović – Drums
Marko Bjelošević – Lead guitars
This live formation suggests HĂşrin is evolving toward greater visibility and possibly more ambitious future releases.
