Illomened

Themes: Satanism, Hate, Anti‑social (early); Misanthropy, Nihilism, Despair (later)

Illomened began in Lentvaris in 1992, emerging during the formative years of the Lithuanian extreme metal underground. Their early material aligned with the raw, hostile edge of first‑wave‑influenced death/black metal, marked by primitive production, aggressive riffing, and overtly blasphemous themes. The 1992 demo Devote to Evil circulated only in tape‑trading circles but became a minor cult artifact among collectors of early Baltic extreme metal due to its abrasive sound and unapologetically anti‑social lyrical stance.

The band dissolved in 1994 as the Lithuanian scene shifted and members moved into other projects, including Ferocity, Mandragora, and Black Crane. After more than two decades of silence, Illomened was revived in 2018 by founding member A., who assumed full control of the project. The revived incarnation abandoned the overt satanic provocation of the early years in favor of a colder, more introspective direction rooted in misanthropy, nihilism, and existential despair. Musically, the modern Illomened sound blends harsh black metal riffing with death‑tinged weight, maintaining a raw aesthetic but with clearer structure and a more personal, solitary tone.

In 2022, the project resurfaced publicly with the single Mano kraujas ant tavo rankĹł, a stark and emotionally bleak track that showcased the project’s evolution—still hostile, but more atmospheric and psychologically driven. The release reaffirmed Illomened’s place as a deeply underground but enduring presence in Lithuania’s extreme metal landscape, driven entirely by A.’s uncompromising vision.
