Interfector is one of the earliest and most musically ambitious extreme metal bands to emerge from Banja Luka. Formed on Christmas Day in 2000, the band carved out a distinctive niche in the Bosnian scene by merging black metal aggression with progressive structures, melodic complexity, and keyboard‑driven atmosphere. At a time when most regional black metal leaned toward raw minimalism, Interfector pushed in the opposite direction—toward sophistication, narrative depth, and a fusion of styles rarely attempted in the Balkans.
Their lyrical themes—history, hatred, despair, and scorn—reflect a worldview shaped by post‑war Bosnia, but expressed through a dramatic, almost theatrical musical language. Interfector’s sound blends tremolo‑driven black metal with progressive rhythms, melodic leads, and prominent keyboards, giving their music a sweeping, cinematic quality.
The band’s early years were prolific, producing demos, a live album, and eventually their defining full‑length:
A raw but revealing snapshot of the band’s early energy.
Two promotional recordings that circulated widely in the regional underground.
A collaborative release that helped expand their reach.
Their most complete and ambitious work—progressive black metal with strong melodic and atmospheric elements. Released through Rock Express Records, it remains one of the most polished black metal albums ever produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Interfector also appeared on several compilations, including Forces of Anger (2004), Sons of Eastern Darkness (2007), and Banja Luka Hardest (2008), further cementing their presence in the regional metal landscape.
The band has been on hold for many years, but never officially disbanded.
