Inzest emerged from Luxembourg City in 2015, bringing forward a harsh and uncompromising form of black metal rooted in aggression, dissonance and a modern underground sensibility. While the country’s extreme metal scene is small, Inzest quickly distinguished themselves through a sound that blends traditional black metal ferocity with sharp, contemporary riffing and a raw, confrontational vocal approach. Their music leans toward a direct, riff‑driven style rather than atmospheric or ritualistic black metal, giving their work a sense of immediacy and physical intensity.
The band’s debut full‑length, Collateral Damage (2019), stands as their primary statement to date. The album delivers a barrage of cutting guitars, relentless drumming and harsh vocal assaults, structured around tight, aggressive songwriting. The production is intentionally abrasive, maintaining clarity while preserving the raw edge essential to their sound. Collateral Damage was well‑received in underground circles for its straightforward violence and refusal to dilute its black metal roots with trends or embellishments. The record’s tone is bleak, hostile and confrontational, reflecting the band’s commitment to a stripped‑down, no‑compromise aesthetic.
Inzest’s lineup brings together musicians with experience in other Luxembourgish extreme metal acts. Roll Flies handles bass and vocals, delivering a harsh, commanding vocal presence and a thick low‑end foundation. Guitarists Christian Reischel and Sascha Urban provide the band’s sharp, aggressive riffing—Urban having previously contributed to Kraton. Drummer VĂ©ronique Conrardy, also known for her work in Kraton, anchors the band with precise, forceful percussion that drives the music’s intensity.
Despite operating independently, Inzest have maintained a steady presence in the local scene, performing live and continuing to develop their sound. Their work represents a modern strand of Luxembourgish black metal—raw, aggressive, and grounded in the genre’s core principles while shaped by the energy of a newer generation of musicians.
