Izrod

Origin: Bosnia and Herzegovina
Location: Sarajevo
Formed: 2015
Status: Active
Genre: Black Metal
Label: Black Plague Circle
Themes: Degeneracy, Decadence, Nihilism

Izrod—literally degenerate, abomination, freak—is one of the most confrontational and thematically coherent projects within the Black Plague Circle, Sarajevo’s infamous nexus of raw, hostile, spiritually corrosive black metal. Where many BPC projects lean toward occultism, ritualism or atmospheric decay, Izrod is the Circle’s embodiment of urban rot, human collapse, and the filth of modern existence. Its aesthetic is not mystical but brutally concrete: the streets, the stench, the violence, the nihilism of a city that devours its own.

Musically, Izrod is sharp, aggressive and suffocating—raw black metal with a distinctly urban edge. The riffs are jagged rather than atmospheric, the drumming relentless, the vocals snarling and venomous. The sound is less cavernous than Obskuritatem, less ritualistic than Cave Ritual, less melodic than Night’s Majesty; instead, Izrod channels Sarajevo’s concrete, its alleys, its broken glass, its hopelessness.

The project was initially active in 2015, then dormant until its full resurrection in 2020. Since then, Izrod has become one of the most visible BPC entities.

Position within the Black Plague Circle

Izrod is the Circle’s urban nihilist, the project that rejects mysticism in favor of human filth.
Where Void Prayer is spiritual collapse,
Obskuritatem is folkloric terror,
Sulphuric Night is cosmic hatred,
Izrod is the street, the broken bottle, the cigarette ash, the hopelessness of modern Sarajevo.

It is one of the Circle’s most thematically focused and narratively coherent entities.
