Kult of Dead emerged in 2024 from Timișoara as a raw and confrontational depressive black metal project focused on the darker intersections between personal despair and the oppressive weight of Romanian religious culture. Their sound is rooted in bleak, minimalistic guitar work, anguished vocals, and an atmosphere shaped by themes of spiritual decay, institutional hypocrisy, and self‑destruction. Despite being a new presence in the Romanian underground, the band quickly gained attention for its uncompromising aesthetic and emotionally charged compositions.
Their self‑titled debut full‑length Kult of Dead (2024) introduced the project’s stark identity, blending lo‑fi production with a suffocating emotional tone. In 2025, the singles The Chants ov Belial and Divine In The Darkness expanded their thematic focus toward anti‑religious narratives and inner collapse, paving the way for the second full‑length Orthodoxia (2025), a work centered on the psychological and spiritual violence embedded in Romanian Orthodox culture.
Kult of Dead also appeared on Fertile Soul Vol. 7 (Loud Rage Music, 2024) with the demo version of “Dream,” marking their first contribution to a compilation and helping introduce their sound to a wider underground audience.
