Magyla arose in Vilnius from the ashes of The Faith of Metztli, transforming in 2021 into a sharper, more aggressive black metal entity. While the earlier incarnation leaned toward atmospheric and ritualistic elements, Magyla embraced a harsher, more direct sound—raw yet melodic, driven by a distinctly Lithuanian sense of tension and spiritual unease. Their music blends traditional black metal ferocity with modern riff structures, expressive vocals, and a dark, confrontational tone.

The project’s roots can be traced to the 2020 single Hell’s Lust, released under the previous name, which hinted at the band’s emerging identity. Their debut full‑length TebĹ«nie tamsa (2021) marked the official beginning of Magyla, presenting a cold, forceful sound built on tremolo‑driven guitars, relentless drumming, and a bleak, oppressive atmosphere. The album circulated strongly within the Lithuanian underground, praised for its intensity and the band’s clear sense of direction despite its young age.

After lineup changes in 2022, Magyla solidified into a more stable formation, allowing their sound to evolve. The single Svetimas TikÄ—jimas (2024) showcased a more refined and confident approach—still raw, but with stronger melodic phrasing and a deeper emotional undercurrent. This progression culminated in the 2025 full‑length Kur tavo dievas dabar?, a work that sharpened their thematic edge and expanded their sonic palette. The album’s title—“Where is your god now?”—reflects the band’s confrontational stance and its exploration of spiritual conflict, disillusionment, and existential darkness.

Magyla continues to grow as one of the notable newer forces in Lithuania’s black metal scene, balancing raw aggression with evolving musicianship and a clear artistic identity.
