Naagrum is a long‑running melodic black metal band from Quito, Pichincha, formed in January 2002, and known for blending black metal with doom‑tinged atmospheres and lyrical themes rooted in philosophy and Nordic legends. Their trajectory is one of the longest and most stable in Ecuador’s extreme metal scene, anchored by the Guerra brothers and a rotating but influential cast of musicians.
Naagrum began as a project aimed at gathering and synthesizing the diverse influences present in Ecuador’s extreme metal underground. According to early accounts, the band was founded by Diego Guerra (vocals) and David Guerra (guitars), who sought to create a personal sound by fusing black metal with doom metal elements.
