Pleroms Gate is a pagan/folk metal band from Gdynia, active since 2006 and shaped around the vision of guitarist, keyboardist, and programmer Art, whose role as the project’s creative core has defined its sound from the beginning. Emerging from the Pomeranian underground, the band blends pagan metal’s raw aggression with folk‑infused atmospheres, ritualistic rhythms, and melodic passages inspired by Slavic heritage. Their music carries the hallmarks of early Polish pagan metal—primitive energy, mid‑tempo heaviness, and a strong sense of ancestral identity—while incorporating ambient textures and keyboard layers that give their compositions a more expansive, mystical character.
The early lineup featured musicians connected to the regional pagan and black metal scenes, including bassist Kac (ex‑Pagan Forest). Over time, the band solidified around a powerful rhythm section: Karol on bass, known for his work across multiple Polish metal projects, and MĹ‚ody on drums, whose extensive background in extreme metal (including stints with Decapitated, Morowe, Pagan Forest, and Melechesh live) brought precision, intensity, and a more dynamic backbone to the band’s sound. Vocalist Dzik completes the current formation, delivering a harsh, commanding vocal presence that reinforces the band’s pagan metal roots.
Their sole official release, the EP Pass the Gate of Pleroma (2009), remains a cult artifact within the Polish underground. The EP showcases the band’s early identity: raw guitar work, atmospheric keyboard lines, and a ritualistic tone that evokes ancient landscapes and mythic symbolism. Listeners and small zines praised its sincerity and its blend of pagan aggression with melodic, folk‑tinged elements. Though the band has not released further studio material, they have remained active, performing selectively and maintaining a presence within the regional pagan metal community.
Pleroms Gate stands as a long‑running but deliberately low‑profile project—rooted in tradition, shaped by experienced musicians, and dedicated to preserving the spirit of pagan and folk metal through a raw, atmospheric, and uncompromising approach.
