Sahrana is a black metal band from Banja Luka, founded in 2005 and known for its raw, aggressive, and blasphemous approach rooted in the early Balkan underground. The name means “funeral” in Serbian, and the project’s aesthetic reflects exactly that: a violent, unhinged descent into madness, war‑ridden visions, and satanic perversion. Emerging during a period when the Bosnian scene was still fragmented and fiercely DIY, Sahrana quickly carved out a reputation for harsh, primitive black metal steeped in regional hostility and occult extremism.

The band’s defining year was 2009, during which they released a torrent of material—VjeÄŤna vladavina Satane, Kullt ov Sath‑Tanas, Raj u plamenu, and two rehearsal demos—cementing their place in the ex‑Yugoslav raw black metal lineage. VjeÄŤna vladavina Satane, their first full‑length, is often regarded as their most iconic work: a lo‑fi, chaotic assault featuring blasphemous hymns, war‑driven themes, and covers of Beherit and Mayhem that underline their devotion to the earliest, filthiest forms of black metal. The album’s cassette‑only release and extremely limited distribution contributed to its cult status among collectors.

Kullt ov Sath‑Tanas, also released in 2009, expanded the band’s ritualistic and anti‑religious identity, blending primitive riffing with a more structured sense of pacing. The EP Raj u plamenu (“Paradise in Flames”) showcased their most violent and perverse lyrical themes, while the rehearsal tapes (Satan’s Seed and Satanic Necro Goat Perverse Cult) captured the band at their rawest—unfiltered, abrasive, and intentionally hostile.

After a hiatus, Sahrana resurfaced in 2011 with a new lineup and continued sporadic activity. Later releases such as Nukklear Goatt Sadomasochism (2012) and the controversial single Mosque Burner (Anti‑Islamic & Intolerant) (2014) pushed their provocative identity even further, reflecting the band’s willingness to embrace taboo and extremity as core artistic principles. Their last known release, the split Holy Incest (2015), reaffirmed their place within the Balkan underground’s most uncompromising circles.

Despite long periods of silence and an on‑hold status, Sahrana remains a notable name in the Bosnian black metal scene—an embodiment of the region’s raw, confrontational spirit, driven by themes of madness, war, and satanic devotion.
