Savaot was one of the earliest metal bands to emerge from Skopje, forming in 1993 and initially rooted in a raw, energetic thrash metal sound. The original lineup—Chopi (guitars, vocals), Zoc (lead guitar, vocals), Richy (bass), and Keljo (drums)—built their reputation through local performances and a straightforward, aggressive style influenced by classic thrash acts of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Their music often incorporated Christian themes, delivered through fast riffing, sharp rhythmic shifts, and dual vocal interplay.

The band gained wider recognition with the release of their 1999 demo Lord of Hosts, a recording that circulated heavily in the Macedonian underground and positioned Savaot as one of the country’s most promising thrash metal acts of the decade. The demo showcased tight musicianship, memorable riffs, and a raw but confident production that captured the band’s live energy.

In 2000, Savaot released their only full‑length album, Voice from Macedonia, marking a significant stylistic shift. While still retaining elements of their thrash roots, the album embraced Macedonian folk influences—traditional melodies, rhythmic patterns, and lyrical themes tied to national identity and cultural heritage. This fusion of metal with local folklore made the album stand out within the regional scene, offering a uniquely Macedonian interpretation of heavy music at a time when such experimentation was rare.

Despite the growing interest generated by the album, Savaot disbanded in 2001. Members later moved on to other musical projects, with Zoc notably contributing to the dark metal project My Darkest Time. Though their discography is small, Savaot remains an important early chapter in the development of Macedonian metal, remembered for bridging thrash aggression with the country’s rich folk tradition.
