Serpentarius is a Vilnius‑based black metal/ambient project founded in 2019 and driven entirely by multi‑instrumentalist Liudas VaškeviÄŤius. The project blends raw black metal foundations with spacious, atmospheric passages, creating a sound that moves between harsh minimalism and meditative ambience. Serpentarius’ work is solitary, cold, and introspective, with a strong emphasis on mood and texture rather than technicality.

The debut full‑length Satanae Manus (2020) introduced the project’s core aesthetic: lo‑fi black metal layered with ambient interludes and a stark, desolate atmosphere. In 2021, Serpentarius released two EPs—Pabaiga and Atilsis—which expanded the ambient dimension of the project and explored slower, more atmospheric structures.

A self‑titled demo followed in 2022, capturing a rawer, more immediate side of the project. After a brief period of silence, Serpentarius returned with the Serpentarius EP in 2025, refining its blend of black metal and ambient elements. The 2026 EP SaulÄ— marked a notable shift toward brighter, more expansive atmospheres, contrasting with the project’s earlier bleakness while maintaining its solitary, introspective character.

Serpentarius remains an active and evolving presence in the Lithuanian underground, operating independently and releasing material at a steady pace.
