Seven Main Sins is a melodic black/gothic metal project with roots in EĆk, later reborn in Cambridgeshire, and shaped by a long, fractured history that mirrors the band’s own fascination with darkness, magic, and the occult. Formed in 2005, the group initially existed only brieflyâjust long enough to produce a raw, atmospheric demoâbefore dissolving. But the project refused to die. In 2013, guitarist Marcin and original vocalist/bassist Denis resurrected Seven Main Sins with a new lineup, a new location, and a clearer artistic identity.
The first incarnation of Seven Main Sins was a classic midâ2000s Polish underground formation: guitars drenched in melancholy, keyboards weaving gothic atmosphere, and dual male/female vocals adding theatrical contrast. The lineup included:
Their debut Demo A.D. 2005 captured this early identityâmelodic black metal with gothic overtones, occult themes, and a dramatic, almost romantic darkness. Though raw, it established the band’s core aesthetic: melody, atmosphere, and a fascination with the esoteric.
After years of silence, Seven Main Sins reâemerged in England with a renewed lineup and a more focused melodic black/gothic metal direction. The resurrected formation centers on:
This era brought a heavier, more polished soundâstill melodic, still occult, but with a stronger black metal backbone and a more modern gothic sensibility. The band’s music became more atmospheric, more dramatic, and more emotionally charged.
Demo A.D. 2005
The raw beginningâgothic keyboards, dual vocals, and early melodic black metal foundations.
Cemetery of Accusred Souls (Single, 2016)
A reintroduction to the world: darker, sharper, and more mature. The single showcased the band’s renewed focus on melody and occult atmosphere.
In the Shadow of Death (Demo, 2017)
A return to longerâform storytelling, blending melancholic guitar lines with blackened aggression. This demo marked the band’s full creative rebirth.
Evocation (Single, 2017)
A ritualistic, atmospheric piece that emphasized the band’s gothic side and their fascination with magic and death.
Chalice of Sorrow (Single, 2018)
One of their most polished worksâmelodic, mournful, and steeped in gothic melancholy. It solidified the band’s modern identity.
Seven Main Sins occupies a liminal space between melodic black metal and gothic metalâdark, atmospheric, and emotionally charged. Their music is built on:
Despite long periods of silence and a major geographic shift, the band has maintained a consistent artistic spirit: romantic darkness, occult mysticism, and a melodic sensibility that bridges the Polish and British undergrounds.
Seven Main Sins remains active, evolving slowly but deliberatelyâan enduring presence shaped by resurrection, reinvention, and the seven sins that gave them their name.
