Sur Austru was formed in 2018 by former members of Negură Bunget following the death of drummer and founder Negru. The project carries forward the spiritual, nature‑driven, and folkloric essence of the Transylvanian black metal tradition, while carving out its own identity through layered atmospheres, traditional instruments, and a strong melodic sensibility.
Their music blends black metal with Romanian folk textures—bucium, nai, toacă, and ritual percussion—creating a sound that feels both ancient and forward‑moving.
