V:28 formed in Arendal in 2002 as an experimental force within Norwegian extreme metal, merging atmospheric black/death metal with stark electronic and industrial elements. From the beginning the project centered on a conceptual vision: the deconstruction and transformation of Earth, expressed through cold mechanical textures, dissonant riffing, and a futuristic, post‑human aesthetic. Their early demos Time Is Empty (2002) and Promotion CD 2003 laid out this hybrid approach, blending harsh vocals and blackened aggression with synthetic layers and programmed structures.

The debut NonAnthropogenic (2003) established V:28’s identity as a band operating outside traditional genre boundaries, presenting a bleak, industrialized vision of black/death metal. SoulSaviour (2005) expanded the project’s thematic and sonic scope, deepening the electronic integration and sharpening the atmospheric tension. Their final studio album, VioLution (2007), pushed the concept to its apex—dense, mechanical, and apocalyptic, portraying humanity’s collapse and the rise of a new, post‑organic world.

After disbanding in 2008, V:28 released Total ReConstruction, a compilation that closed the conceptual arc of the project. A decade later, Live in Arendal 2008 (2018) surfaced as a document of their final era, capturing the raw, industrial intensity of their performances.

V:28 remains a distinctive presence in the Norwegian underground’s history—an ambitious, concept‑driven project that fused atmospheric extremity with electronic futurism to depict a world in dissolution and rebirth.
