Vailos is a folk metal band from KrakĂłw, formed in 2021 and dedicated to exploring Celtic history, myth, and druidic lore through a modern, melodic metal framework. Their music blends energetic guitar work with traditional folk instrumentation, creating a sound rooted in ancient storytelling yet driven by contemporary heaviness. The band’s focus on Celtic legends and wartime narratives gives their material a strong thematic identity, evoking battles, rituals, and the spiritual world of old Europe.
The core of Vailos is built around the dual‑guitar interplay of Wojciech “Vogh” Gryglewski and Maksymilian Wajszle, the latter also serving as the band’s vocalist. Their melodic leads and rhythmic drive form the backbone of the project’s sound. Drummer Marek Siwor provides a solid, dynamic foundation, while the addition of Monika Gałązka on hurdy‑gurdy brings an unmistakable Celtic timbre that defines the band’s folk character. Since 2023, Joanna Gałązka has expanded the group’s sonic palette with keyboards and zither, adding atmospheric depth and ritualistic textures.
Vailos’ debut EP, Battle Queen (2023), introduced their blend of folk‑infused metal and Celtic storytelling. The release showcased their ability to merge driving riffs with traditional melodies, crafting songs that feel both heroic and steeped in ancient myth. Though the band has undergone several vocal and bass lineup changes, their artistic direction has remained consistent: a celebration of Celtic heritage through powerful, melodic folk metal.
Still active and evolving, Vailos stands as one of the newer Polish acts bringing Celtic themes into the metal sphere, combining historical fascination with energetic musicianship and a strong sense of narrative atmosphere.
