Vecordia was a folk metal band from Warsaw, active between 2008 and 2016, known for its warm, melodic approach that blended metal instrumentation with a rich ensemble of folk and classical elements. Their sound was shaped by an unusually large and rotating lineup, incorporating guitars, flute, violin, cello, keyboards, and layered vocals. This gave Vecordia a distinctly orchestral character—lush, lively, and rooted in Central European folk sensibilities.
The project began with a more traditional folk‑metal setup, but quickly expanded as new musicians joined, bringing cello sections, multiple violinists, and a strong emphasis on woodwinds and choral vocals. Over time, the band developed a vibrant, communal sound built around the interplay of strings and flute, supported by melodic guitar work and energetic drumming. Despite frequent lineup changes, the core contributors—Grzesław (guitars, backing vocals), Kisiel (drums), Aga Bot (bass), Paulina Zysk (flute, choirs), and Martyna Jakubiak (vocals)—formed the last known stable formation and carried the band through its later years.
Vecordia’s discography reflects their evolution from raw beginnings to a more polished, narrative‑driven style. Their debut demo (2009) introduced their folk‑infused metal foundation, while the full‑length OpowieĹ›ci przyszĹ‚ego zmierzchu (2010) showcased their expanded instrumentation and storytelling flair. Subsequent demos—Dukaty (2011) and Under Folk Wings Tour 2012 (2012)—captured the band’s live energy and their increasingly elaborate arrangements.
Though their status eventually became unclear and the band ceased activity after 2016, Vecordia remains a memorable presence in the Polish folk metal underground. Their music stands as a testament to the creativity of a large, collaborative ensemble blending metal with classical and folk traditions in a uniquely colorful way.
