VetĂ«vrakh is one of the central and most prolific entities within the VIIIXIII collective, a shadowy Bosnian–Albanian raw black metal circle known for its extreme anonymity, violent aesthetics, and uncompromising devotion to primitive black metal. Emerging from Sarajevo, VetĂ«vrakh embodies the collective’s core philosophy: total sonic barbarity, spiritual desecration, and a rejection of modernity in favor of pure, hateful black metal expression. The project’s name—evoking notions of self‑slaughter and spiritual annihilation—reflects its thematic focus on Satan, terror, and infernal violence.

Musically, Vetëvrakh operates in the harshest fringes of raw black metal. The sound is defined by chaotic tremolo riffs, suffocating distortion, and vocals delivered with a feral, almost inhuman intensity. Production is intentionally abrasive, often bordering on harsh noise, creating an atmosphere of claustrophobic evil. Across its numerous demos and splits, the project has cultivated a reputation for consistency, extremity, and a uniquely Balkan strain of raw black metal that blends primitive aggression with occult dread.

The project’s early years (2013–2015) were marked by a rapid succession of demos and splits, including collaborations with Nekrodrone, Appalachian Winter, Entsetzlich, and Snorri. These releases circulated primarily through tape‑trading networks and underground labels, quickly earning VetĂ«vrakh a cult following among collectors of the most extreme and inaccessible forms of black metal. The 2019 split with Vetala—one of Portugal’s most notorious raw black metal acts—further solidified VetĂ«vrakh’s international standing, with the release receiving strong praise for its atmosphere and intensity.

VetĂ«vrakh’s first full‑length, Dominion of Terror (2020), marked a significant milestone. The album expanded the project’s sonic scope while retaining its raw, violent core. It was followed by Satanic Black Moloch (2022), a release that pushed the project into even darker, more ritualistic territory. Both albums were noted for their relentless aggression, occult atmosphere, and the unmistakable VIIIXIII aesthetic: hostile, minimalistic, and spiritually corrosive.

The project’s membership is deeply intertwined with the VIIIXIII collective, whose members frequently collaborate across numerous raw black metal entities. This network includes AiqĂ«hahirit, DräkavtrĂ©, HumnerĂ«, LlahtarĂ«, TmärrdhĂ«, VrasĂ«sinerĂ«zve, and Vrkolak. VetĂ«vrakh’s musicians—VrasĂ«sinerĂ«zve, EzotĂ«rokh, Mörtvrae, HvaĂ«regh, and past contributors like ZvĂ©rgh and VarvĂ«rizvre—are themselves involved in dozens of underground projects spanning Bosnia, Albania, the Netherlands, and the wider European raw black metal scene.

VetĂ«vrakh remains one of the most active and influential projects within the VIIIXIII circle, known for its unwavering dedication to raw black metal’s most extreme and uncompromising form. With a vast discography, a cult following, and deep ties to the Balkan underground, the project stands as a defining force in the region’s modern black metal landscape.
