Vigred is the embryonic form of what would soon become Dekadent, one of Slovenia’s most enduring atmospheric black metal bands. Active only briefly in 2005, Vigred served as the initial creative vessel for Artur Felicijan, who wrote and performed all instruments and vocals during this early phase. The project’s name, aesthetic, and sound were rooted in symphonic black metal—melodic, dreamlike, and introspective, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and emotional clarity.
The sole release under the Vigred name, the Manifestation of Seasonal Bleeding demo (2005), laid the foundation for what would later be re‑recorded and expanded into Dekadent’s full‑length debut in 2006. Even in its raw form, the demo showcased Artur’s cinematic approach to black metal: sweeping guitar leads, expressive vocals, and keyboard arrangements that evoked nature, dreams, and internal landscapes. The demo’s themes—introspection, the cycles of nature, and the emotional weight of thought—would remain central to Dekadent’s identity.
Shortly after the demo’s release, Vigred evolved into Dekadent, bringing in additional musicians and transforming the project from a solo endeavor into a full band. This transition marked the beginning of a long and prolific career, but the Vigred era remains a crucial origin point: the seed of Dekadent’s melodic and atmospheric vision.
