Wędrujący Wiatr is one of the most revered and singular forces in modern Polish atmospheric black metal—a project born in 2011 from the collaboration of W. and Razor, two musicians deeply rooted in the spiritual, folkloric, and natural landscapes of Poland. Their music is vast, windswept, and steeped in the mythic aura of mountains, forests, and night. It is black metal as a form of pilgrimage: contemplative, immersive, and shaped by the rhythms of nature rather than the conventions of genre.
The duo’s creative chemistry is central to the project’s identity.
W. handles guitars, bass, and a range of folk instruments, drawing on traditions from the Carpathians to Warmia. His playing is melodic yet rugged, evoking the contours of mountain ridges and the stillness of lakes at dusk.
Razor contributes vocals, guitars, drums, keyboards, and additional folk instrumentation, weaving together harsh expression with atmospheric depth. His voice—raw, distant, and elemental—feels like an extension of the landscapes the band channels.
Wędrujący Wiatr’s discography is small but monumental. Their debut, Tam, gdzie miesiąc opłakuje świt (2013), arrived as a fully formed vision: long, immersive compositions steeped in Polish folklore, nocturnal mysticism, and the quiet melancholy of wandering through forests at dawn. The follow‑up, O turniach, jeziorach i nocnych szlakach (2016), expanded their scope, becoming a cornerstone of modern atmospheric black metal—an album celebrated for its emotional depth, melodic richness, and sense of timelessness.
After several years of silence, the band returned with Zorzysta staje oćma (2022), a work that deepened their connection to Polish legend and natural mysticism. It is darker, more reflective, and more mature, carrying the weight of years spent in creative solitude. Their contribution to the Summoning tribute In Mordor Where the Shadows Are (2016) further demonstrated their ability to reinterpret epic, atmospheric traditions through a distinctly Polish lens.
Still active, Wędrujący Wiatr remains a project defined by integrity and devotion to craft. They stand apart from trends, creating music that feels like a living extension of the land—wind over ridges, moonlit paths, and the quiet stories carried through forests at night.
