Anifernyen is a melodic black/death metal band from Santo Tirso and Porto, active since 2003 and known for blending apocalyptic themes with a sharp, modern melodic edge. After an initial run that lasted until 2010, the band reactivated in 2017, returning with a more mature and expansive sound.

Anifernyen emerged in the early 2000s with a focus on melodic extremity and conceptual storytelling. The lineup has evolved over time, with the current formation including Daniel Lucas on vocals, Luís Ferreira and David Silva on guitars, Ricardo Vieira on bass, and Hugo Almeida on drums.

Discography and evolution

Their first major release, the EP The Pledge of Chaos (2008), showcased a raw but ambitious blend of black and death metal, recorded at Ultrasound Studios and featuring tracks like “Lidless” and “Hectic Red.”The EP established the band’s thematic and musical foundations: melodic aggression, apocalyptic storytelling, and a strong sense of dramatic tension.

After reforming, Anifernyen released their full‑length Augur in 2019 through Ethereal Sound Works. The album marked a significant leap in production, composition, and atmosphere. With Daniel Lucas on vocals, Luís Ferreira and Diogo Malheiro on guitars, Ricardo Vieira on bass, and Hugo Almeida on drums, Augur delivered a polished and intense melodic black/death sound, enriched by layered arrangements and a cohesive apocalyptic vision.
