Arson was a short‑lived melodic death/black metal band from Kronach, Bavaria, active in the second half of the 2000s. Though their existence was brief, the band carved out a small but memorable place in the Bavarian underground with a sound that fused the aggression of melodic death metal with the darker edge of black metal. Their music was characterized by sharp riffing, harsh vocals, and a raw, unpolished production that reflected the DIY spirit of the era.

Origins & Early Activity (2006–2008)

Formed in 2006, Arson quickly assembled a lineup consisting of Gan (bass, vocals), Flo (guitars), Antichristian (guitars), and Maddoff (drums). Their debut release, the Sudden Death Experience demo (2006), introduced a band leaning heavily into melodic aggression, with fast, driving rhythms and a harsh vocal delivery that bridged the gap between death and black metal.

In 2008, they released the EP Behind the Holy Curtain, their most substantial and polished work. The EP showcased improved songwriting, tighter performances, and a clearer sense of direction, blending melodic hooks with a darker, more atmospheric edge. It remains the band’s defining release and the clearest representation of their sound.

Final Years & Dissolution (2009)

Arson’s final known recording, Demo 2009, captured a band still evolving but nearing the end of its activity. The demo retained their characteristic melodic black/death hybrid but hinted at a heavier, more aggressive direction. Shortly after its release, the band faded from the scene without an official announcement, eventually becoming one of the many promising underground acts that dissolved quietly.
