Astaroth is a black metal band from Linz, Upper Austria, formed in 1995. They blend atmospheric and symphonic black metal with mystic and anti-religious themes, creating a sound that ranges from raw aggression to melodic intensity. The group was active mainly in the late 1990s and early 2000s and released several albums through CCP Records, including early works that helped establish their reputation in the European black metal underground. Over the years the lineup saw changes, but core members included Nemesis ‘Styx’ on vocals, guitars and keyboards, Beowulf on bass, and Astaroth on drums. After periods of inactivity the band’s status became on hold, but their legacy remains influential within the Austrian black metal scene.
