Count RavenBlood was a shortâlived but distinctive presence in the Serbian underground, blending symphonic black metal with doomâladen atmospheres and a fascination with demonology, occult mysticism, and horror. Formed in 2007 by Amboss and Serpentus, the band emerged from the ashes of Ancient Sorrow and carried forward that project’s melodic sensibilities while embracing a darker, more theatrical identity.
Their sound combined midâ2000s symphonic black metal aestheticsâkeyboards, layered melodies, dramatic vocal deliveryâwith slower, doomâinflected passages that gave the music a sense of ritual weight. Though their discography is small, Count RavenBlood occupies a unique niche in the Serbian scene, where symphonic black/doom hybrids were rare.
The band released two demos:
After 2010, the lineup shifted significantly, culminating in a full ensemble by 2012. However, despite the expanded lineup and growing ambition, Count RavenBlood dissolved around 2013, leaving behind only their demos and scattered live memories.
Count RavenBlood’s aesthetic can be summarized as:
Their music sits closer to early Dimmu Borgir, Graveworm, or midâ2000s Eastern European symphonic acts, but filtered through the rawer production and DIY ethos of Vojvodina’s underground.
