Electric Wichser emerged from Dresden, Saxony in 2020, conceived as an irreverent, psychedelic, and heavily improvisational project whose name openly parodies Electric Wizard while embracing a distinctly German sense of absurdity and provocation. Their style fuses post‑black metal, doom, ambient experimentation, and psychedelic jamming, resulting in sprawling, unpredictable compositions shaped more by instinct and atmosphere than by traditional songwriting structures. The band’s creative process is rooted almost entirely in extended jam sessions, where riffs, textures, and vocal ideas evolve organically into finished tracks.
Their debut EP Morgen wieder Acid... gar kein Bock (2020) immediately established their chaotic, hallucinatory aesthetic—lo‑fi, trance‑like, and drenched in fuzzed‑out guitars and ritualistic repetition. The band’s thematic palette draws heavily from drug‑induced surrealism, dark fantasy, and dadaist humor, giving their music a playful yet unsettling edge.
In 2022 Electric Wichser released the singles Italienischer Regen macht meine Pappen nass and Für Ihn., both continuing their blend of psychedelic drift and blackened heaviness. These tracks showcased a growing confidence in layering synthesizers, distorted vocal textures, and hypnotic doom passages. Their 2024 single Der leere Aal (Activité Paranormale) pushed further into bizarre, atmospheric territory, merging paranormal themes with their trademark improvisational looseness.
The full‑length Bærgevinter (2025) marked their most ambitious work to date—a sprawling, immersive album that blends icy black metal ambience with psychedelic doom and experimental soundscapes. The record captures the essence of their jam‑based approach, shifting fluidly between meditative passages, chaotic eruptions, and surreal vocal performances.
Electric Wichser remains an active and defiantly unconventional presence in the German underground, driven by spontaneity, humor, and a commitment to exploring the stranger edges of psychedelic extreme metal.
