Eris is one of the longest‑running and most uncompromising black metal bands in Serbia, active since 2003 and rooted firmly in the raw, hateful, and anti‑human tradition of the genre. Emerging from Stara Pazova, the band quickly became known for its abrasive sound, primitive production, and unwavering dedication to misanthropic and Satanic themes. Their early years were marked by intense underground activity, culminating in the 2003 demo Symbols of Madness, a release that established their foundational aesthetic: harsh riffs, venomous vocals, and a complete rejection of modern polish.
In 2005, Eris briefly went on hold, during which some members formed the projects Final Holocaust and Rotten Rectum—both aligned with similarly extreme sonic philosophies. When Eris returned, they did so with renewed aggression, releasing Blasphemous Gospells in 2010, a demo that showcased their evolution toward even rawer and more violent expression. From that point onward, Eris became a prolific contributor to the Serbian and Balkan underground, participating in numerous splits with bands from Serbia and abroad.
Their extensive split discography—including collaborations with DeadKillers, Zarach ‘Baal’ Tharagh, Kolac, 1389, Strahor, Chikara, Dishate, and many others—reflects both their deep integration into the regional scene and their commitment to the old‑school black metal ethos of shared releases and underground networking. These splits often feature exclusive tracks, alternate versions, and material that highlights the band’s dedication to rawness and ideological extremity.
Eris also appeared on several compilations, including Raw Black Metal Compilation Vol. 1 (2015), Serbian Black Metal Compilation (2017), and others, further cementing their reputation as a persistent force in the Serbian black metal underground. Their music is consistently described as hateful, primitive, and unrelenting—eschewing experimentation in favor of purity of intent and atmosphere.
Despite lineup changes over the years, the core duo of Necro and Terror has remained the driving force behind the band. Their longevity and unwavering dedication have made Eris a staple name in Serbian black metal, representing the raw, hostile, and anti‑human spirit that defines the genre’s most extreme fringes.
