Exaudi formed in 1995 in Dresden, Saxony, developing a hybrid sound that blended melodic gothic metal, blackened elements, doom‑laden pacing, and strong Christian thematic undercurrents. Their early years were marked by experimentation, including a 1999 demo tape (Demoedition) that leaned more toward hard rock before the band settled into their characteristic mixture of somber atmospheres, melodic guitar work, and dual‑vocal interplay.

The band’s official discography began with the Exaudi demo (2001), followed by Ein Stein (2003), both showcasing a developing gothic/black metal fusion with violin, keyboards, and occasional folk‑tinged instrumentation. Their full‑length Sehnsucht (2010) represented their most mature and expansive work, weaving melancholic melodies with spiritual themes and a blend of harsh and clean vocals. The Morgendämmerung EP (2016) marked their last known release before activity ceased around 2020.

Exaudi’s lineup evolved significantly over the years, incorporating a wide range of instrumental textures—flute, nyckelharpa, violin, keyboards—alongside traditional metal instrumentation. This gave their sound a distinctive emotional and atmospheric depth within the German gothic/black metal underground.
