Farson emerged from Göttingen, Lower Saxony in 2013, carving out a space in the German underground with a sound rooted in post‑hardcore intensity and post‑black metal bleakness. Their early material fused abrasive emotional catharsis with blackened atmosphere, but over time the band shifted decisively toward a more expansive, post‑black metal identity—still raw, still visceral, but increasingly textured, dynamic, and concept‑driven.
The debut single The Same Untruth (2013) and the split with (((…))) the same year introduced their chaotic, emotionally charged foundation. Their first full‑length Erode (2016) marked a major step forward: a dense, expressive record exploring themes of decay, trauma, and psychological erosion through layered guitars, anguished vocals, and a suffocating sense of atmosphere.
With Kreatürlich (2018), Farson leaned further into experimentation, blending post‑metal weight with blackened urgency and a more nuanced sense of dynamics. After a period of relative quiet, the Demo 2023 signaled a renewed creative surge—raw, exploratory, and pointing toward a darker, more introspective direction.
Their upcoming full‑length Ein stumpfes Instrument (2026) represents the culmination of this evolution: a bleak, immersive work that deepens their thematic focus on psychic and physical decay while expanding their sonic palette into even more atmospheric and emotionally devastating territory.
Farson’s lineup has shifted over the years, but the band’s core ethos remains constant: emotionally raw, sonically expansive, and unflinchingly focused on the fractures of the human condition.
