Fiur is a Berlin‑based melodic black metal project founded in 2018 by multi‑instrumentalist Tobias Jäpel, who composes, performs, and produces all material himself. The project’s sound is defined by sweeping melodic riffing, atmospheric layering, and a strong sense of narrative flow, often drawing inspiration from natural landscapes and historical reflection. Fiur’s music balances sharp black metal aggression with a luminous melodic core, giving the project a distinct emotional and cinematic character.
The debut full‑length Elementa / Refugium (2019) introduced Fiur’s dual nature: elemental fury intertwined with introspective calm. The album was praised for its clarity of vision and its ability to merge melodic black metal with atmospheric depth. Fiur followed quickly with Verse (2020), a more refined and expressive work that expanded the project’s melodic vocabulary and earned similarly strong reception.
In 2022 Fiur released Imperium, a record that pushed further into thematic and compositional ambition. The album explored historical and existential motifs through dynamic songwriting, layered harmonies, and a heightened sense of emotional intensity. Across all releases, Jäpel’s multi‑instrumental craftsmanship remains the defining force behind Fiur’s evolving sound.
