Forlatt emerged from Chemnitz, Saxony in 2015 as a solitary atmospheric post‑black metal project shaped entirely by the creative vision of SpĂ„. From the beginning, Forlatt has embraced a stark, introspective sound—icy tremolo layers, drifting ambience, and a sense of vast emotional distance. The project’s Scandinavian‑influenced titles and aesthetics reflect its focus on emptiness, isolation, and the quiet violence of inner landscapes.

The debut full‑length Ingenting (2015) and its companion album Lysende skygger (2015) established Forlatt’s early identity: raw yet atmospheric, minimalistic yet emotionally charged. In 2016, the project released Aldri and Fantom, both expanding the project’s melodic vocabulary while maintaining its cold, windswept character.

After a period of silence, Forlatt returned with the Tomhet EP (2020), a work steeped in bleak ambience and restrained melancholy. Later that year, the full‑length Ø pushed deeper into atmospheric territory, blending post‑black metal dynamics with meditative, almost ritualistic pacing.

The most recent album, Ritual (2022), represents Forlatt’s most refined and immersive work to date—an expansive, hypnotic journey through layered guitars, drifting textures, and a sense of spiritual desolation. Throughout all releases, SpĂ„ remains the sole architect of the project’s sound, crafting each album as a self‑contained emotional landscape.
